Obstetrics Registered Nurse (RN) - Contract
Location: Salmon, Idaho
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 1700 - 0530 (overnight)
Hours per Week: 36
Job Summary
Provide compassionate, skilled nursing care to expectant mothers during labor, delivery, and postpartum, including monitoring maternal and fetal well-being and assisting in the birthing process. When no obstetrics patients are present, provide nursing care in the Medical/Surgical unit. Adaptability and clinical expertise across multiple units are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive care to laboring mothers, postpartum patients, and newborns.
- Assist with labor and delivery, including fetal monitoring, medication administration, and patient education.
- Monitor maternal and fetal health, recognize complications, and respond appropriately.
- Educate patients and families on postpartum care, breastfeeding, and newborn health.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure safe, effective care.
- Provide nursing care for adult medical/surgical patients when assigned.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and wound care per physician orders.
- Document patient assessments, progress, and care plans accurately.
- Respond to emergencies and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams.
- Delegate and oversee tasks assigned to nursing assistants and support staff.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and promote patient rights, dignity, and safety.
- Participate in staff meetings and in-service education for professional development.
- Mentor and orient new staff members.
- Work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as needed.
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Idaho.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
- Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
- Experience working with maternal-fetal and neonate patients, including maternal-newborn care.
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification.
Licenses & Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
Additional Information

- Adherence to safety, infection control, and regulatory standards including HIPAA and OSHA.
