Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU
Location: Thornton, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Hours per Week: 36
Unit Information
- ICU with 28 beds divided into two pods:
- Pod A: 12 beds (opened 1/2019)
- Pod B: 16 beds (second floor)
- Staff: 42 total
- Patient Ratios: Typically 1:2; can vary between 1:1 and 1:3 depending on acuity
- Equipment includes Pyxis, Plum Pump IVs, GE bedside monitors, Nelcor, Artic Sun, Sub Zero
- Electronic Medical Record system: Meditech
- Unit handles neurosurgical, trauma (level III, upgrading to level II), cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, alcohol/drug withdrawal, and all ventilated patients
Schedule & Staffing
- Day Shift: 6 AM to 6 PM
- Critical care tech staffed 6 days a week, 9 AM to 9 PM
- Charge nurse present on both day and night shifts
- Variety of nursing staff experience levels, some with 20+ years tenure
- Intensivists available 24/7, supportive and teaching-oriented
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Colorado
- Minimum 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
Preferred Qualifications
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification
- Experience with Meditech EMR
