Registered Nurse (RN) - Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Unit Information
- Unit Type: Step-down and Medical-Surgical
- Number of Beds: 23 step-down, 16 med-surg
- Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 11 RNs, 4 PCTs
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 10 RNs, 4 PCTs
- Patient Ratios:
- Step-down: 1:3-4
- Med-surg: 1:4-6
- Equipment: Lifts, chest tubes, cardiac drips, stable vented patients, tracheostomies
- EMR System: Cerner
Job Description
- Provide care on step-down and med-surg units
- Typical procedures include:
- Tracheostomy care
- Chest tube management
- Wound dressing changes
- Flexibility and a high level of clinical competence are essential
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with tracheostomies
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Additional Information
- Floating assignments may include other med-surg and progressive care units
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
- Weekend/on-call requirements: Approximately 6 weekend shifts (Saturday or Sunday) in a 6-week period
