Registered Nurse - Med Surg Telemetry

Location: Wilson, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Work on a Telemetry unit with 22 beds, serving adult and geriatric patients.
• Patient ratios typically 5:1 or 6:1.
• Shift options: 7 AM or 7 PM.
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36 hours.
• Weekend hours: 12 hours every other or every third weekend.
• No call requirements.
• Float requirements apply (may be asked to work in other units such as Med/Surg overflow).
• Electronic Health Record system: Meditech EMR.
• Equipment used includes Welch Allyn V/S machine, Hoyer Lift with weight scale, Abbott Glucometer, Computers on Wheels, TR band, Baxter IV pumps.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
• Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing discharges and admissions.
• Basic knowledge of cardiac drips.
• Meditech experience preferred.

• Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
• Chest Pain (CP)
• Acute Renal Failure (ARF)
• Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
• Uncontrolled diabetes
• Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
• Post Cardiac Catheterization care

• Dress code: Scrub color not assigned; artificial nails are not acceptable.

Additional Information

• Orientation occurs bi-weekly with upcoming start dates available.
• Facility is Joint Commission Accredited with specialties including cancer care, cardiac care, orthopedics, imaging, and surgical services.
• Location is approximately 45 miles east of Raleigh, NC, near major universities and local attractions.
