Laboratory Technologist / Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Location: Brewster, Washington
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Monday - Thursday, 9:30 AM - 8:00 PM (10-hour shifts)
Hours per Week: 40

Job Summary

Perform technical, clerical, and information system procedures in various laboratory areas including Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Blood Bank, and specimen procurement. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to provide timely and accurate test results supporting high-quality patient care. Monitor quality control and participate in Laboratory Quality Improvement programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize work and manage time to complete technical tasks efficiently. Operate and adjust laboratory instruments; use computers to record and transmit data.
• Analyze and interpret laboratory results across multiple disciplines: hematology, chemistry, special chemistry, serology, blood bank, microbiology, and urinalysis.
• Maintain instruments and laboratory sections, including scheduled maintenance and monitoring consumables.
• Perform specimen collection on patients of all ages, including venipuncture, capillary draws, culturing sites, and instruct nursing staff on proper sample collection methods.

Required Qualifications

• Clinical Lab Scientist (CLS) with a minimum of 2 years of experience, including experience within the last year.
• Phlebotomy skills and certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Additional Information

• Work involves analyzing biological samples for chemical content, blood typing, and identifying abnormalities such as malignancies, bacteria, parasites, or genetic abnormalities.
• Provide technical information about test results to physicians, family members, and researchers.

This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently within a clinical laboratory setting.
