NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Apple Valley, California
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (NICU Level III)
- Location: Apple Valley, California
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM)
- Hours per Week: 36 hours
- Unit Details: NICU Level III, approximately 190 births per month
- Scheduling: Weekends every other week, may exceed to meet unit needs; no floating between units; no on-call required
- Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Local Radius: 50 miles
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in California
- Minimum 2 years of NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Heart and Stroke Foundation
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or Heart & Stroke Foundation
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
Facility Information
- Acute Care Hospital with 212 staffed beds
- Charting system: Epic
- Free parking available
- Scrub color for RNs: Navy Blue
Key Requirements & Compliance
- Background check within 90 days covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years; must be updated annually
- Drug screen: 9-panel within 12 months; instant tests acceptable
- Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, NP, PA, or DO, confirming ability to work with or without accommodation
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years (declination accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine during flu season (declination accepted)
- COVID vaccination record preferred; declinations accepted
- Respiratory safety clearance required annually for travel staff
- Fit mask test required annually (travel only)
- References: Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment in a comparable specialty/setting within the last 3 years
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years required
- Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
Scheduling & Policies
- Scheduling requests due to outside employment will not be considered
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application; approval based on facility needs
- No block scheduling accommodations
- Float policy acknowledgment required (may be required to float to another facility within reasonable distance)
Training & Competencies
- Completion of annual regulatory and facility-specific training modules via LMS (Workramp)
- Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Epic training modules required prior to or shortly after start date
