Job Summary
Provides direct nursing care for progressive care/step-down patients on a medical-surgical unit, including patients with conditions such as CHF, COPD, DKA, renal failure, DVT, PE, sepsis, and post-operative surgical needs. The role includes patient assessment, care coordination, discharge planning, clinical leadership, and precepting staff.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Montana
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
Preferred Qualifications
- EPNC certification
- TNCC certification
- Pediatric experience
- Experience with post-heart catheterization patients
- Experience with post-op vascular surgery patients
Clinical Skills / Experience
- Ability to operate advanced medical equipment
- Experience with invasive lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, continuous bladder irrigation, multiple IVs, and ventilatory support
- Ability to interpret basic cardiac telemetry and EKGs
- Ability to manage common IV medications, including heparin, diltiazem, dobutamine, Lasix or Bumex, amiodarone, and dopamine
