Charge Nurse RN

Location: Hot Springs, South Dakota
Setting: Long-term care
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Varied day and evening shifts
Hours per Week: 40

Overview

Provide general nursing care to residents, contribute to resident care planning, and directly supervise Nursing Assistants.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in South Dakota
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Skilled Nursing (1 year of experience)
• Skilled Nursing experience within the last year
• BLS
• Experience in Charge roles

Key Responsibilities

• Perform resident assessments, nursing diagnoses, care planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinate outside physician visits and communicate with physicians and family members
• Teach residents, families, and staff about the care plan
• Administer and document routine and emergency medications and treatments
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
• Follow safety and infection control procedures
• Participate in quality management activities
• Serve as primary contact on assigned shift
• Supervise resident assistants to support compliance with the care plan
• Provide IV therapy, including starting IVs, administering initial medication, and managing central lines and catheters
