Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Knowledge of Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips
- Chest tube management
- Wound vac management
Unit Details
- 30-bed cardiac unit
- Typical patient ratio: 5–6:1
- Floating may include general medical-surgical, ortho, PCU, and medical-surgical surgical with oncology areas
Clinical Experience / Skills
- Cardiac knowledge preferred
- Experience with heparin, Cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, and amiodarone drips
- Chest tube management
- Wound vac management
- EKGs as needed
Workflow / Expectations
- Every-other-weekend schedule
- Telemetry documentation, rhythm strip acknowledgment, and charting each shift
- Bedside rounding and hourly rounding with 5P’s
- Report known patient needs to PCTs at the start of and during shifts
Equipment / Systems
- Telemetry equipment
- Meditech documentation system
- Pyxis dispensing system
Dress Code / Appearance
- Navy scrubs for RNs
- No artificial nails, gel nails, or gel nail polish
- No graphics on undershirts
