RN CVICU
Overview
- Travel assignment in Charleston, South Carolina.
- Unit: 65020 ICU.
- 28-bed mixed ICU.
- Schedule: 3 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend.
- Travelers are first to float to the emergency department or PCU for PCU or ICU holds.
- Dress code: navy uniform.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- BLS.
- ACLS.
- NIHSS.
- CVICU experience within the last year.
- 3 years of CVICU experience.
- At least 1 year of intensive care unit experience.
- One completed travel assignment.
- Comfort managing patients on the ventilator.
- Proficiency in reading telemetry strips.
- CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) experience.
- Advanced hemodynamics experience.
- Phlebotomy skills.
- Experience with post-operative day 0 CABG patients.
- Experience with Impella devices.
- Experience with balloon pumps.
- Experience with Swan Ganz catheters.
- Experience with EVDs (external ventricular drains).
Preferred
- BSN.
- Advanced Certifications.
- TNCC certification.
- Meditech familiarity.
- Interest in becoming a skilled Neuro ICU nurse or Cardiovascular ICU nurse.
- Ability to train for head and neck flap procedures.
Clinical Setting
- Bedside shift report is used for handoff.
- Equipment includes i-mobile phones and a mobile computer workstation on wheels.
- The unit cares for ICU holds and may manage patients from the emergency department or PCU.
- Procedures and skills on the unit include CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, phlebotomy, breathing treatments, post-op day 0 CABG, impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage care, EVDs, bolts, Codman, Artic Sun with induced hypothermia, and head and neck flap procedures.
