RN - PCU

Overview

• Travel RN position in Denver, Colorado
• 36 hours per week
• 7A–7P shift
• 13-week contract

Unit

• SRG Cardio / (639)
• 30-bed cardiac progressive/intermediate care unit
• Located on the 5th Northwest Tower, 501 Main Hospital
• Fast-paced, high-acuity cardiac unit

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Colorado
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• Chest tube management, including removal of chest tubes and pacer wires
• 12 lead EKGs
• Oxygen management up to BIPAP and heated high flow
• Experience with drips such as heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone, Lasix, dobutamine, milrinone, and ketamine

Common Patient Care / Procedures

• Post-cath care, including right and left heart caths, TAVRs, ablations, Watchman procedures, pacemaker implantations, TR band management, and neurovascular checks
• Post-thoracic surgery care, including VATs/RATs, resections, lobectomies, and chest tube management
• Pre- and post-op care for open-heart surgical patients, including CABGs, MVRs, AVRs, and aortic dissection repairs
• Vascular surgery post-op care

Unit Environment

• Staffed by RNs and PCTs
• Day shift: 1 Charge RN, 5–8 RNs, 2–4 PCTs
• Night shift: 1 Charge RN, 5–8 nurses, 2–3 PCTs
• Typical patient ratio: 1:4, often 1:5
• Equipment includes telemetry, transport monitors, suction, feeding pumps, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow, chest tubes, foleys, pacer wires/pacers, IV pumps, and SCD pumps
