RN - PCU

Overview

• Travel assignment in Asheville, North Carolina
• Unit: D3-A
• 10-bed ICU/PCU Overflow unit in A tower, D corridor, 3rd floor
• 36 hours per week
• 13-week contract
• Cerner documentation system

Schedule

• 12-hour shifts
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday support required
• No on-call requirement

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience
• BLS
• ACLS
• Ventilator management
• Critical care pharmacology (IV sedation, paralytics, vasopressors)
• Advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Central line management

Preferred / Helpful Experience

• Critical thinker
• Flexible and works well with others
• Advanced critical care skills including ventilator management, critical care pharmacology, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and central line management

Unit Details

• ICU patient ratio: 2:1
• PCU patient ratio: 4-5:1
• No unit secretaries or PCTs
• Charge nurse out of staffing
• Day shift staffing: 1 Charge RN, 5 Staff RN
• Night shift staffing: 1 Charge RN, 5 Staff RN
• Equipment includes lift equipment, Targeted Temperature Management (TTM), ventilators, and IV pumps

Responsibilities

• Bedside shift report is mandatory in all areas of the hospital
• Relief charge nurse expected to perform nurse leader rounding
• Assist providers with bedside procedures as needed, including chest tube insertion and intubations

Floating

• Travelers will be required to float

Dress Code

• Navy blue or white scrubs
