RN - L&D

Overview

• Travel RN assignment in Smyrna, Tennessee.
• Unit: Women’s Services, Main hospital.
• Contract length: 13 weeks.
• Hours per week: 36.
• Schedule requirement: 4 weekend shifts per month.
• Floating: can float to m/b or outside department to task.

Unit details

• 9 L&D beds, 3 swing rooms, 2 ORs, and 3-bed OBED.
• Patient ratio: 1-2.
• Documentation systems: CPN and Meditech.
• Unit staffing includes a unit secretary and scrub tech, with dedicated CRNA and midwife in-house 24/7 and OBGYN on call.
• Procedures performed on the unit include circulating in OR, IUPC, FSE, MgSO4, postpartum hemorrhage management with JADA system, and nitrous oxide.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Tennessee.
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Labor and Delivery (2 years of experience).
• Labor and Delivery experience within the last year.
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association.
• BLS issued by American Heart Association.
• NRP.
• Fetal Monitoring.
• Experience circulating in OR.
• Experience with IUPC and FSE placement.
• Experience administering MgSO4.
• Experience managing postpartum hemorrhage.
• Experience with nitrous oxide.

Preferred

• Spinning babies.
• STABLE.

Additional notes

• Must be able to support patient choice and promote vaginal birth opportunities specific to patient preference.
• Patient experience scores must remain above 75%.
• Dress code: hot pink and black; black bottoms are allowed, with hot pink top preferred.
• The unit uses a laborist team model with 24/7 midwives and dedicated CRNA and OB on call.
• Postpartum care includes couplet care and donor milk availability when needed.
• The unit has an 8-bed level 2 NICU with NNP dedicated 24/7, and NNPs attend high-risk deliveries when needed.
