Description

Registered Nurse – Med Surg
Unit Name: 2 West

Requirements:
Must have a valid TN RN License or Compact RN License in good standing
Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience

Certifications: BLS required

Must Have Skills:
IV starts
NGT placement
Wound care
Cardiac rhythm recognition
Advanced Skills Needed:
Cardiac rhythm interpretation

Common Procedures on Unit:
Lab draws
IV starts
Unit Specifics
Number of Beds: 30
Patient Ratios: 1:6

Unit Staffing: 2–3 techs per shift, clinical coordinator (varies), charge nurse, manager, director

Equipment: Wound vac, heparin gtt, suction, IV pumps, glucometers, bladder scanner, feeding pump, telemetry

Documentation System: Editech

Scheduling: No guaranteed block scheduling; every other weekend & holiday rotation

Floating Policy: Floats between 2 North and 2 West

Patient Experience Expectations: Positive attitude, meet patient/family needs, service recovery as needed, escalate concerns through chain of command
