Traverse City, MI

About

Traverse City is a small city way up in the northwestern tip of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. The largest city in the area, it serves as a cultural and economic hub for the smaller surrounding towns. As the Chery Capital of the World, Traverse City is primarily known for its cherry production and annual Cherry Festival, which draws tourists from all over the Midwest. Other popular attractions include the nearby Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, numerous wineries and breweries, six historic lighthouses, freshwater beaches and stunning views of Lake Michigan. Its moderate climate boasts warm summers and cold winters, providing the perfect year-round backdrop to its abundant outdoor activities.
