Description
Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant position available for the full school year in San Antonio, TX. You'll meet the needs of children in a few schools on the west/sw side of Houston. You'll likely divide up your caseload and only travel between a few schools a few days per week. All schools are located within a short drive. You'll be paid for travel time. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Qualifications & Education
- Degree: Bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders or a related field.
- Licensure: Valid Texas license as an SLPA through TDLR (including passing the Texas Jurisprudence Exam).
- Skills: Strong communication, organization, and bilingual abilities (English/Spanish is frequently preferred in TX).
Core Responsibilities & Duties
- Therapy Implementation: Follow and execute treatment plans or Individual Education Plans (IEPs) designed by the supervising SLP.
- Screenings & Testing: Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings without clinical interpretation.
- Progress Tracking: Document client performance, gather data, and track ongoing progress toward goals.
- Collaboration: Assist with carry-over activities and communicate with teachers, multidisciplinary teams, and parents.
- Administration: Prepare therapy materials, maintain clinical records, and manage equipment/devices under direction
Experience
- School-based experience preferred.
- Experience providing speech-language services to children and adolescents preferred.
- Experience working within special education environments preferred.
- Knowledge of ARD/IEP processes strongly preferred.
