With a starting rate of $40.70/hr., this program is offered with NO contractual obligation; however, our graduate nurses typically stay with UHS upon completing their residency, seamlessly continuing their journey as a valued member of our Nursing Division.
Graduate Nurse positions are available across all shifts and in several clinical areas at both UHS Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY, and UHS Binghamton General Hospital in Binghamton, NY. Opportunities are available in med/surg, critical care, emergency, telemetry, operating rooms, surgical step-down, mom/baby units, and behavioral health.

Compensation and Benefits

- Starting base pay of $40.70/hour plus shift differential (equal to a base salary of $84,656 for a fulltime position)
- Tuition forgiveness of $15,000 for an ASN degree or $20,000 for a BSN degree
- Relocation assistance of $5,000 if you live more than 50 miles from the Binghamton area
- Immediate accrual of PTO
- 403(b) retirement savings plan with employer match and contribution model

Nurse Residency Program Details
Joining our Nurse Residency Program means starting your RN career with the support and guidance you need to thrive. Here's what Graduate Nurses can expect:
- Travel through the program and your first year as an RN with the same cohort—experience the emotions of your first year together in a continually supportive environment
- Begin with on-unit shadowing and transition to supervised clinical care as your confidence grows
- Complete 30 hands-on “skills encounters” with your preceptor and teammates during the first six months, gaining confidence and signing off on essential skills as you step into your independence
- Spend the last six months building leadership skills with workshops on clinical coaching, evidence-based practice, communication, and de-escalation

Education/Experience
Minimum Required:
- A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
Preferred:
- Bachelors of Science degree in Nursing
- Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting
License/Certification
Minimum Required:
- Current New York State Registered Nurse License or Limited Permit
- CPR within 3 months of hire
Preferred:
- Professional certification in a related nursing specialty
- Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, Basic Coronary)
