Work Environment

• Works in the hospital environment, laboratories and patient areas.
• Regular and recurrent exposure to reagents, infectious materials, patient and patient specimens and mechanical devices. 
• Extensive handling of blood and body fluids.  Category I for exposure to blood borne pathogens.
• Close visual attention and acuity are required as well as intermittent standing and walking.
• PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT used as required by work location within the Laboratory including but not limited to gloves, lab coast, face shield, goggles.

• Clinical – Access to patient information that is not restricted (an example of restricted information is ARU) – Level 3

• Medical technologists and/or technicians 

Sign-on Incentive:

Education/Experience

Minimum Required:

• B.S. in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry or similar
• 6 years work experience as a Medical Technologist 

License/Certification

Minimum Required:

• Current c

Preferred:

• ASCP or NCA certificate

Routinely performs the duties of a Medical Technologist as well as the Functions of the section supervisor. Maintaining SOPMs and instrumentation, supervising staff training and competencies, maintains overall operations of their assigned section including ordering, maintenance, quality control, completing performance evaluations, initiating disciplinary actions, scheduling as needed. As requested takes on the duties of the department manager.
