United Health Services is seeking a dedicated Gastroenterology Technician to join our GI Lab team at UHS Binghamton General Hospital. In this role, you will work closely with gastroenterologists and clinical staff to support diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures while ensuring the highest standards of patient care, safety, and infection prevention. The Gastroenterology Technician prepares procedure rooms, anticipates provider needs during procedures, assists with patient care activities, and reprocesses endoscopic equipment according to established guidelines. This team member is responsible for maintaining clean and sterile supplies, supporting efficient workflow in the GI Lab, and contributing to a collaborative environment focused on delivering exceptional patient outcomes. Schedule:

• Day rotational

• 32 hours per week

Education/Experience

Minimum Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

• GI Technical Specialist (GTS) online course completion through the Society of Gastrointestinal Assistants (SGNA)
• Previous patient care experience

License/Certification

Minimum Required:

• GI Technical Specialist (GTS) online course completion through the Society of Gastrointestinal Assistants (SGNA) within 18 months of hire

Preferred:

• CPR Certification

Work Environment

• Lifting heavy objects; must be able to lift minimum of 50 lbs. Potential burns from steam sterilizers. Potential exposure to blood and body fluids. Potential punctures from sharp instruments. Potential punctures from contaminated sharps/instruments. Work in a small confined space. Potential falls from water on floor.

  PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT:
  • Technicians are required to wear full-face shields, bonnet to cover hair, gloves and impervious gowns in the decontamination area. Hot mitt gloves are to be worn to prevent sterilizer burns.
