Responsibilities:

• Disassemble, wash, rinse, dry, and package respiratory equipment.
• Evaluate the results of patient respiratory care delivered per care plans.
• Serve as a role model in respiratory care, demonstrating competency in clinical judgment, technical skills, and knowledge base.
• Prepare and test respiratory therapy equipment for proper and safe operation; check equipment in use for proper operation and routine service.
• Report malfunctioning equipment to management.
• Process and maintain respiratory equipment.
• Accurately chart on respiratory flow sheets in the electronic medical record (EMR) and care plans, and charge accurately in the EMR.
• Complete assessments on ventilator patients and all other patients receiving respiratory care services.
• Recommend interventions and determine the need for further treatment or referral in the patient's respiratory care regimen.
• Record procedures, patient response, and compliance with sleep therapy documentation requirements.
• Consult with a respiratory care practitioner regarding any adverse effects and compliance with equipment, relaying information in writing to the physician.
• Evaluate patients for routine respiratory care therapy on inpatient units and in the emergency room.
• Obtain and analyze blood gases: arterial, venous, and capillary.
• Assist in cleaning respiratory care equipment and stocking related supplies on inpatient care units.

Schedule:

• Nights; 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM

Candidate Requirements:

• Must have RRT, NBRC, EPIC, Trauma 1, NICU/PICU with Level 3-4 experience.

Skills & Experience:

• Required: Solid understanding of all aspects of respiratory care.
• Preferred: N/A

Education:

• Required: Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy
• Preferred: N/A

Certifications & Licensure:

• Required:
• BLS (American Heart Association)
• Illinois RCP license

• NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist

• Preferred: N/A
