ICU Overview

Join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team, specifically addressing the Medical/Surgical aspects of critical care. Our unit consists of a 20-bed facility accommodating a wide range of adult patient diagnoses, including but not limited to:

• Substance Abuse/Overdose
• Severe Psychiatric Conditions
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Gastrointestinal Bleeding
• Respiratory Failure
• Cardiac Arrest
• Renal Failure
• Cardiogenic Shock

Experience and Skills Required

• Minimum of 2 years of continuous Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) experience.
• Must possess the ability to interpret telemetry strips.
• Comfort with floating primarily to Medical/Surgical units is necessary.
• Proficiency in using the EPIC charting system.
• Certification in BLS and ACLS is mandatory.

Facility Information

This is part of a Level III Trauma Center within a 400+ bed complex community facility. The ICU is supported by attending physicians and residents available 24 hours a day.

Patient Care Dynamics

• RN to patient ratios vary, with 1:2 or 1:1 for high acuity cases, and up to 1:4 or 1:5 when floated to other Med/Surg areas.
• Telemetry competency is required for optimal patient monitoring.

Certifications and Licensing

Active Massachusetts RN License required, along with BLS and ACLS certifications to ensure compliance and proficient patient care.
