Unit Name: IV Therapy

Unit Description: All IV Therapy RNs must achieve and maintain the required core IV Therapy skills and competencies, which include:

• Peripheral IV insertion
• CVAD dressing change
• Non-tunneled CVAD removal
• Reconstitution, instillation, and removal of thrombolytic
• Access and de-access of implanted ports
• Repositioning a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC)
• Ultrasound Guided IV lines

Years of Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years of experience working in an IV/Venous Access team.

Skill Sets Required:

• IV insertion
• Ultrasound Guided IVs
• PICC line insertion

Education Required: BSN Preferred.

Patient Population: All ages including neonatal, infant, pediatrics, adult, and geriatrics.

EMR (Charting System) & Equipment Used: EPIC.

Floating Required: No.

Rotating Shifts Required: All day shift positions are rotating.

Certification Required:

• Active MA RN License
• AHA BLS
