Description:

The role involves working in Interventional Radiology with a focus on Neurosurgery/Neuroscience. The individual must be able to work flexibly within a team-oriented environment and demonstrate a high level of competence in radiologic imaging techniques.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Selects appropriate exposure factors and positions patients to produce diagnostic-quality radiologic images.
• Collaborates effectively with department members to resolve issues promptly.
• Exhibits flexibility, team spirit, compassion, respect, politeness, and accountability when interacting with customers.
• Maintains patient rights awareness and sensitivity in all patient interactions.

Areas of Emphasis:

• Administers oral contrast as needed during examinations.
• Prepares and instructs patients for radiographic/fluoroscopic exams, assisting the Radiologist during procedures.
• Operates all x-ray equipment, CR, and DR systems proficiently.
• Reports equipment malfunctions to the manager or lead.
• Completes assigned procedures timely and engages in supportive activities during downtime.
• Ensures medication security access is limited to authorized personnel.
• Demonstrates health care service competence relevant to all age groups.
• Maintains competency in interpersonal relationships across all age groups.

Documentation/Information Management:

• Competent in using Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS.
• Participates in performance improvement activities when required.
• Maintains confidentiality with secure use of personal passwords and patient care modules.
• Provides technical information over the phone to physicians and hospital personnel, maintaining phone etiquette.

Requirements:

• Valid BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• At least two years of relevant experience
• Licensing in the state of New York
• Specific experience in Neurosurgery/Neuroscience
• AART certification
• VIR experience is a plus
