Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Interventional Radiology Technologist to assist with growing our IR program. This role involves working with the current Radiology Technologist staff, helping them become proficient in Interventional Radiology Procedures. The Radiologic Technologist will also work with the IR staff in ultrasound and CT, aiding them in acquiring the skills necessary for excellence in patient care for IR patients. They will contribute suggestions for process refinement and workflow development related to Interventional Radiology procedures across all modalities involved.

Essential Job Functions:

Administer contrast material, according to physician's request, through existing IV lines.
Anticipate setup and needs for invasive procedures.
Assist with inventory and supplies as required.
Verify correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position.
Compile pertinent clinical information, including lab and pathology details.
Explain procedures to patients and ensure patient comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.
Perform essential functions of the Invasive Lab Radiologic Technologist.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Demonstrate competence in the operation of imaging and related equipment, performing basic troubleshooting.

Department-Specific Functions:

Function as scrub and preceptor during interventional radiology procedures.
Maintain a sterile field during procedures.
Administer and withhold contrast and treatment as appropriate.
Assess patients for allergies.
Assist physicians during interventional procedures.

Required Skills & Experience:

Extensive experience in Interventional Radiology.
Experience as a preceptor for IR Technologists.
Capacity to learn and retain patient care and procedure information.
Effective communication skills and the ability to follow directions and complete detailed work accurately.
Demonstrates compassion and care when interacting with others.
Manual dexterity to handle small supplies.

ARRT (R)
ACLS - AHA
BLS - AHA

Education:

Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology required.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

IEMA Radiography License Illinois
BLS
ACLS
Radiography (R)(ARRT)

Language:

Proficiency in English (Speak, Read, Write)
