Description

American Traveler is hiring a Radiologic Technologist for Vascular Interventional Radiology, requiring ARRT Radiography certification and prior procedural radiologic technology experience.

Details

  • Work within a Heart & Vascular Institute performing invasive cardiology and invasive radiology studies
  • Patient population includes those requiring peripheral vascular, venous, and arterial procedures
  • Procedures include peripheral vascular work, venous central lines, tube changes, embolization (venous and arterial), and venous thrombectomy
  • Additional procedures may include dialysis access work (AV fistulas, tunneled dialysis catheters, peritoneal dialysis catheters) and tube access/changes (G-tube, Chole, Neph, Biliary, Abscess, SPC)
  • Neuro procedures such as cerebral arterial/venous work and kyphoplasty are ideal experience
  • Schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, 36 hours per week
  • Participates in call rotation for weekend and holiday coverage
  • No floating requirements

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in a related field or Certificate in Radiologic Technology required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification (American Heart Association) required
  • IEMA Radiography License (Illinois) required if applicable
  • ARRT Radiography (R) certification required
  • Previous radiologic technology experience in a procedural setting preferred
  • Experience with Interventional Neurology preferred
  • Ability to maintain a sterile field during procedures
  • Manual dexterity to handle small supplies
  • Ability to pull and manage procedural supplies

Additional Information

  • Administer contrast material via existing IV line or venipuncture and recognize/respond to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions
  • Assess patients for allergies and monitor for adverse reactions during procedures
  • Verify correct patient identification, diagnosis, and treatment positioning prior to procedures
  • Compile pertinent clinical information such as lab and pathology data
  • Assist in the instruction of new staff as needed
  • Document care and procedures accurately and completely
  • Explain procedures to patients and ensure comfort, safety, and confidentiality
  • Accurately communicate medication doses, radiation exposure, and sponge/sharp counts to the procedural nurse
  • Perform on-call duties and work variable shifts as needed to meet department needs
  • RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
  • Radius rule of 50 miles applies; local candidates are not accepted
