Description
The staff is a professional caregiver responsible for a group of patients for a designated time frame, utilizing the nursing process, trends, technology, and resources within the institution's philosophy.
Responsibilities:
- Perform responsibilities and duties specific to the scope of service.
- Implement procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate documentation to integrate information for use by the healthcare team.
- Complete initial assessment upon patient admission and develop an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs.
- Implement plan of care, nursing interventions, and procedures.
- Modify plan of care based on continuous evaluation.
- Ensure patient and employee safety by reporting and correcting safety hazards and incidents.
- Communicate with others to resolve issues directly and privately when necessary.
- Provide constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confer with colleagues to expand knowledge.
- Identify personal learning needs and take initiative for appropriate solutions.
- Fulfill all requirements of departmental competencies.
Department-Specific Functions:
- Manage care of patients during moderate sedation.
- Monitor hemodynamics throughout procedures.
- Provide detailed documentation of procedure events.
- Understand the use of supplies and equipment used in various procedures.
Skills and Experience:
- Minimum three years of relevant experience required.
Required Skills:
- Peripheral vascular work
- Venous central lines
- Tube changes
- Neuro
- Embolization work
Additional Skills:
- Venous thrombectomy work
- Moderate sedation management
- Hemodynamic monitoring
- Use of supplies and equipment in procedures
Education:
- Required: ASN
- Preferred: BSN
Certifications and Licensure:
- Illinois RN License in good standing
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- PALS (American Heart Association)
Languages:
- English: Read, write, speak
