Requisition Comments and Notes:

RN needed for Float Pool. Must have 1-2 years of experience and prior travel experience.

Primary Patient Population:

• Respiratory-focused, vent-dependent patients
• Medical environment (not traditional Med/Surg)

Units Most Commonly Supported:

• Respiratory Care Unit/Respiratory Step-Down Unit
• Ratios: Day/Evening 1:9, Night 1:12

Will Also Float To:

• MRU/CMU - Medically Complex Rehabilitation with cardiac monitoring
• Ratios: Day/Evening 1:7, Night 1:9
• TRU - TBI, Medically complex Chronic Care
• Ratios: Day/Evening 1:7-10, Night 1:12
• Medical, Rehab, Respiratory
• Ratios: 1:5-8, Average is 6 or 7

Floating:

• Travelers will float based on weekly need; respiratory units have the highest demand

Experience Requirements:

• RN experience with respiratory/vented patients strongly preferred
• Nurses do not manage ventilators (RTs handle vents)

Pediatrics:

• Float RNs will not be assigned to Pediatrics unless pedi-specific

Unit Size:

• Respiratory Care Unit: 36 beds
• Respiratory Step-Down Unit: 38 beds

Unit Specific Procedures/Protocols:

• Responsible for IV starts, drips, administering blood, EKGs, medication titrations, glucose monitoring, wound vac changes, complex and simple wound dressings, trach care, suctioning, straight cath, foley care, port access, central line dressing, wound measurements

Certifications:

• BLS
