Purpose of Position:
Deliver high-quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Direct and guide activities of ancillary personnel while adhering to professional nursing standards and hospital policies. Maintain and deliver the highest quality customer service standards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilize the nursing process in patient care by maintaining accurate and current patient records.
- Provide documentation of patient assessments throughout hospital admission, covering physical, psychological, social dimensions, and discharge plans. Initiate and communicate the plan of care to relevant care providers.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the charge nurse role and computerized nursing informatics.
- Serve as a resource for patient care, orientation, and teaching staff.
- Participate in unit staff meetings, mandatory programs, and acquire credits in Patient Care Assessment Committee (PCAC) annually.
- Identify aspects of patient care, monitor the quality and appropriateness of care, and evaluate it.
- Adhere to safety and blood/body fluid policies and procedures.
- Assess personal learning and development needs, maintain documentation of professional development, update knowledge on techniques and regulations.
- Represent the hospital by maintaining confidentiality and presenting the hospital positively.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
- Consistently provide service excellence to patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
Education/Experience/Training:
- Must read, write, and communicate in English.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Hold a current license as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Completed Intra-aortic balloon pump course.
- Pass the CCHC Pharmacology Exam and CCHC Basic Arrhythmia Exam.
- Experience in Acute Cardiac Unit/Stepdown, including post-procedure monitoring and management following cardiac interventions and vasoactive medication management.
- Demonstrate skills in I.V. administration and telemetry monitoring.
- Use of lead apron required.
- On-call duties required for off-shift, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred:
- Current cardiovascular interventional nursing experience within the last five years.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certification as a Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) or Certified Radiology Nurse (CRN).
