Description
AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurses (RNs) to support the Maternal Child Department at NMCP. This includes coverage in Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby (Postpartum), and the Complicated OB/GYN Surgery Unit. The RN will provide inpatient care for mothers and newborns, manage laboring patients, assist with deliveries, and support patients during postpartum recovery or high-risk pregnancy admissions.
General Duties:
Deliver care consistent with MTF policies, nursing standards, and clinical privileges
Respond to obstetrical emergencies and high-acuity patient needs
Maintain documentation using approved electronic medical record systems
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary care team (OB/GYNs, pediatricians, lactation consultants, social workers)
Follow infection control, safety, and clinical protocols
Specific Duties:
Provide nursing care for laboring patients, including fetal monitoring and labor support
Assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections as needed
Monitor and care for postpartum mothers and newborns (Mother-Baby Unit)
Care for patients in the Complicated OB/GYN Surgery Unit (high-risk OB)
Educate patients on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed
Document patient progress and update providers accordingly
Support family-centered care and bonding
Float between OB units as required by workload
Qualifications:
Degree:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Education:
Graduate from a college or university accredited by the NLNAC or CCNE
Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Highly preferred
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Preferred
Experience:
Minimum one year of full-time experience in inpatient obstetrics (labor & delivery, postpartum, or high-risk OB) within the past three years
Licensure:
Current, unrestricted RN license in any U.S. state or territory
Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in labor support, postpartum recovery, and newborn assessment
Skilled in managing obstetric emergencies and fetal monitoring
Comfortable with rotating shifts and high-acuity environments
Compassionate, adaptable, and capable of working in a family-centered care model
Strong communication and documentation skills

Schedule:
Sunday through Saturday
Rotating 12-hour shifts: 1845–0715 (nights) and 0645–1915 (days)
Up to 120 hours per week total coverage (as part of a multi-RN team)
Weekend and holiday work required
Work Environment:
Inpatient maternal-child units within NMCP
May work in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, or High-Risk OB/Surgical units
Family-centered, multidisciplinary care environment
Immunization Requirement:
Varicella, MMR, Hepatitis B, TDAP, Influenza, and TB screening required
Must complete NAVMED 6260/91 or DHA equivalent form
Security Requirement:
Must pass background check and credentialing
Expect up to 90 days for full clearance
