Description
• Shift: Five 8-hour day shifts, 40 hours per week
• Schedule: Monday–Friday with flexible start times between 5:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.
• Weekend Requirements: Call coverage only
• On Call: Rotating extended-shift, overnight, weekend, and holiday call based on staffing; currently approximately two overnight call shifts and one weekend per month
• Weekend Call: Approximately one 24-hour weekend call rotation per month, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• End-of-Shift Call: Up to once per week
• Call Response Time: 30 minutes; no sleep room available
• Holiday Requirements: Call coverage only, as needed
• Facility: 938-bed Level III Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center
• Department Details: Eight CVORs averaging approximately 10 cases per day
• Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent CVOR surgical technologist experience
• Required Education: Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program
• Required Certification: BLS
• Preferred Certification: CST
• Required Skills: Strong cardiovascular surgical background and the ability to independently scrub complex cases with minimal guidance in a fast-paced environment
• Typical Procedures: CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, heart transplants, generator exchanges, lead extractions, femoral-popliteal bypasses, and robotic thoracic procedures, including lobectomies and hernia repairs
• Documentation System: EPIC experience required
• Technology/Equipment: Alaris pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, and da Vinci Xi robotic systems
• Floating: No formal floating; may assist with procedures in other departments when cardiac surgeons are involved, including the main OR and Cath Lab
