Description
Nexus MedPro Staffing is seeking an experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) for an exciting local contract opportunity at the Atlanta VA Medical Center in Decatur, Georgia.
Location: Decatur, GA Facility: Atlanta VA Medical Center Specialty: Emergency Department / Emergency Room Shift: Nights | 7:30 PM–8:00 AM Pay Rate: $50–$57/hour, based on experience and qualifications Assignment Duration: Approximately 5 weeks, through September 30, 2026
Position Overview
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse will provide high-quality, rapid-response nursing care to Veterans presenting with acute and emergent medical and psychological conditions.
The ED RN will function independently and under the direction of the Nurse Manager or designee, providing timely triage, stabilization, treatment, and comprehensive patient-centered care in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess and manage patients presenting with a wide range of acute physical and psychological conditions
* Perform emergency patient assessments, triage, stabilization, and ongoing monitoring
* Administer oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications
* Administer blood and blood products as ordered
* Insert and maintain peripheral IV lines
* Maintain central lines for IV fluid and medication administration
* Perform phlebotomy and bedside diagnostic testing
* Provide complex wound care and dressing changes
* Insert and troubleshoot urinary catheters
* Assist with operative and invasive procedures
* Care for patients requiring isolation and special precautions
* Respond rapidly to emergency and changing clinical situations
* Verify physician orders and implement prescribed treatments
* Collaborate with physicians, residents, nursing staff, and ancillary healthcare professionals
* Provide patient education and discharge instructions
* Provide psychological support to patients and families
* Maintain complete, timely, and accurate clinical documentation
Schedule
Night Shift: 7:30 PM–8:00 AM
Alternating schedule:
* One week: Three 12-hour shifts
* Following week: Three 12-hour shifts plus one 8-hour shift
Schedules are coordinated with the Nurse Manager based on staff preference and unit needs.
Requirements
* Current, full, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license from any U.S. state
* Current American Heart Association BLS certification
* Current American Heart Association ACLS certification
* Graduate of a nursing program accredited by ACEN or CCNE
* Minimum 3 years of recent Emergency Department or major trauma center Emergency Room experience
* No more than a 6-month gap working in an Emergency Department/major trauma ER setting
* Strong emergency assessment, triage, IV therapy, medication-administration, and clinical documentation skills
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced emergency-care environment
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working in a high-volume or trauma facility
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing or a related field
