Job Summary and QualificationsNew nurses shape the future of patient care, and the support they receive directly impacts how well they deliver it. As a Clinical Support Resource Registered Nurse RN, you will be a trusted clinical mentor who helps new graduate nurses and nurses moving into new specialties understand their roles, grow their clinical skills, and deliver safe, quality care. By rounding on units, guiding real-time learning, and coaching in critical moments, you will strengthen confidence, improve practice, and help care teams improve more lives in more ways. You will support multiple units, providing guidance and education on the hospital’s standard of nursing practice, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all accrediting and regulatory agency requirements.
What you will do in this role:
As a Clinical Support Resource Registered Nurse RN at Johnston-Willis Hospital you will perform patient care as needed, motivate and champion staff to reach their professional goals, and work closely with the Unit Nursing Directors, ACNO and CNO to provide leadership, including:
- Actively rounds on each nursing unit; continuously observing, assessing nursing educational needs and that the patient clinical needs are being met.
- Willingly shares knowledge/expertise and assists co-workers.
- Fosters teamwork and contributes to achievement of team goals.
- Acts as a resource for new nurse graduate residents and nursing staff as appropriate, by providing feedback, education, and coaching, mentoring, shadowing, with appropriate escalation concerning nursing skills, patient care, policies, processes, and equipment.
- Review of care with new nurse graduate residents and nursing staff, to include, disease processes, but not limited to core measures, stroke and sepsis.
- May attend rapid responses and codes, to observe, provide feedback, and debrief, facilitate education, direction, coaching before, during and after the rapid response or code, as indicated.
- Acts in a professional manner and promotes the HCA’s company and facility values and commitment to Code of Conduct.
- Functions as resource for staff members and provides education as necessary.
- Responsible for acting as resource and shadowing of new nurse graduate residents and other nursing staff as needed, to help facilitate the delivery of safe, quality, patient-centered care.
- Promotes and acts as resource to new nurse graduate residents and other nursing staff, to provide guidance and education on the hospital’s standard of nursing practice, nursing policies and procedures to ensure they meet legal, and all accrediting and regulatory agency requirements.
- Utilize skills of observation, assessment to assess care, provide feedback on nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation of care of the ill, injured or infirm.
- Facilitate the promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness of the patient.
What qualifications you will need:
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required (BSN preferred).
- Current Registered Nurse License in Virginia or Current Multistate Compact License (required).
- 2+ years of current nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting (required).
- 1 year of leadership experience as Charge, Shift Coordinator, Council member, etc. (preferred)
- Critical care experience (preferred).
- Current American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
