Job Summary and Qualifications

The Coordinator of Emergency Medical Services (EMS) serves as a liaison between HCA Catholic Medical Center) and local, state and regional EMS agencies and governing bodies, referring facilities and local public safety organizations. The position reports to the Assigned Administrator at the respective facility while working in collaboration with the Emergency Department Medical Directors and Emergency Department Directors.

What will you do in this role:·

  • Works closely with Administrator on strategy and execution of projects

  • Coordinates ongoing EMS Activities

  • Provides leadership and the vision for the education and training activities of Pre-Hospital personnel and takes an active role in Hospital and Community Education/Events

  • Performs outreach to referring hospitals and EMS agencies in regard to service line availability and specialty care.

  • Provides leadership in developing required Quality Improvement programs with Medical Resource Hospital agreement EMS agencies as well as providing patient/QA feedback for agencies that transport to Hospital.

  • Ensure Hospital compliance with HCFA, OSHA and other regulatory organizations concerning EMS agencies, students, equipment and supplies.

  • Develops and maintains budget for EMS (non-hospital based)

  • Supervise and coordinate off-site marketing and first-aid events and participates in EMS/Public safety outreach events

  • Represents Catholic Medical Center at the Local, State and Regional level for EMS functions and actively participate in planning and training events.

  • Actively involved in clinical activities establishing protocols, monitoring care, assisting and providing feedback to EMS and referring hospital staff in collaboration with the Emergency Department Medical Director.

  • Meet and improve metrics on ambulance volume, turnaround time, patient ED throughput

What qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Nationally Registered EMT-Paramedic  required with pre-hospital EMS Supervisory experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of EMS experience required
  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • EMS Instructor and Emergency Management Certification preferred
