Join a leading acute-care hospital as an MS/Tele Float Registered Nurse in Wilmington, NC. This contract position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting patients in the Emergency Department holding area while they await inpatient beds. You will be responsible for caring for patients with various medical and surgical adult diagnoses, including those requiring PCU-level care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide care for patients in the ED holding unit, including MS/Tele cases and floating to ED and MedSurg areas as needed.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry data, manage dysrhythmias, and provide rapid response as required.
• Administer medications, including blood products, and manage various medical equipment.
• Perform essential nursing procedures such as phlebotomy, IV management, and wound care.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care.

Required Skills and Certifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of traveler experience in a similar role.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Proficient in telemetry monitoring and management of dysrhythmias.
• Experience with colostomy care, feeding tube management, and renal failure.
• Ability to perform non-invasive airway management and oxygen therapy.

Preferred Skills and Certifications:

• NIHSS certification and familiarity with IV insulin protocols.
• Experience in pre/post hemodialysis management and central line blood draws.
• Knowledge of spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injury, and orthopedic trauma.

This position requires flexibility, as you will be expected to work every other weekend and may be assigned to a Storm Team or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events. The target patient ratios are 1:6 for MS/Tele or 1:4 for PCU-level patients.

Unit orientation will be 12 hours, and scrubs will be navy. Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to starting. This is a mixed unit with high-acuity patients, and due to a high turnover rate, all candidates will be interviewed.
