PICU RN Job Details
- Location: Asheville, North Carolina 28801
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: November 17, 2025
- End Date: February 16, 2026
- Shift: 12-hour nights (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Unit: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), 9 beds
- Self-scheduling and flexible scheduling options available
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1570 - $1680
PICU Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – North Carolina or compact state
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
- Minimum 1 year of recent PICU RN experience required
- Ability to float to Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as needed
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record system preferred
- Must follow hospital dress code: navy blue or white scrubs (navy pants and white tops acceptable)
PICU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
- Manage patient assignments with a 1:1–2 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Perform IV starts, catheterizations, lumbar puncture assistance, central line dressing changes, and hemodynamic monitoring
- Provide tracheostomy care, tube feeding and placement, intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring, and ventilator management
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Cerner
- Participate in self-scheduling and work at least 3 weekends in a 6-week schedule
- Float to Pediatric and NICU units as needed to support clinical operations
