Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Location: Rome, NY 13440 (Central New York nursing jobs)
- Contract Type: Per Diem (Travel Nursing)
- Start Date: October 27, 2025
- End Date: January 24, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM); flexibility to cover day shifts a plus
- Minimum Shifts: 2 shifts per month required
- Hours per Week: 36 (typical)
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1680-$1800
- Openings: 3 Med/Surg RN positions available
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg or Telemetry nursing experience
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Certification (required before start date)
- Proficient IV skills; experience with cardiac drips, EKG interpretation, and wound care
- Ability to float to Medical/Surgical units as needed
- Completion of 8 hours of CEUs during facility orientation
- Flu vaccine or declination (mask required if declining)
- Travel nursing experience preferred
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality nursing care to Medical/Surgical and Telemetry patients
- Monitor and manage cardiac drips; interpret EKG strips accurately
- Perform wound care and IV therapy with clinical expertise
- Float to other Med/Surg units as required by the healthcare facility
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal patient outcomes
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to hospital protocols
- Participate in ongoing education and orientation requirements
