ER RN Job Details – California Healthcare Jobs
- Location: Walnut Creek, CA 94598 (Bay Area)
- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Job
- Unit: Emergency Department (44 beds)
- Trauma Level: II
- Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 12/2/2025 or 12/16/2025; End: 2/28/2026)
- Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (1p-1a, 3p-3a, 5p-5a, 7p-7a; must be able to work all listed shifts)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2410-$2580
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: 1 major holiday
- Orientation: 2 ED shifts (24 hours) + 1 shift with Educator (4-6 hours)
- Documentation: Epic EMR
ER Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active California RN license (required for California nursing jobs)
- Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Room nursing experience
- Prior travel nurse assignments preferred; strong ED experience with ability to transition quickly
- Current certifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), PALS (AHA) or ENPC, NIH Stroke Scale
- EPIC charting experience (must be documented in work history)
- Superior professional references
- Preferred: CEN, TNCC, 3-5 years of experience, trauma and pediatrics experience
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills
ER Nurse Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to a diverse patient population in a busy Emergency Department (average daily census: 190-200 patients)
- Perform triage, assessment, and treatment for patients with emergencies including STEMI, stroke, trauma, falls, syncope, and weakness
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, ER techs, respiratory therapists, and case managers for optimal patient outcomes
- Utilize Epic EMR for documentation and Pyxis for medication administration
- Participate in rapid patient turnover and manage inpatient admissions as needed
- Comply with hospital policies, including professional dress code and appearance standards
- Maintain a positive attitude and contribute to a culture of teamwork and nursing excellence
