- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing – Oncology RN, Nurse Navigator
- Healthcare Setting: Outpatient Radiation Treatment Center
- Start Date: January 5, 2026
- End Date: April 6, 2026
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: Rotating day shifts (8-hour shifts: 13:00-21:00 and 12:00-20:30)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1770 - $1900
- EMR System: Cerner
- Flu Vaccine: Required (no exemptions)
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active DC Registered Nurse (RN) license required at time of application
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required; oncology nursing or nurse navigator/coordinator experience preferred
- At least 1 completed travel nursing assignment preferred; strong clinical experience considered
- BLS certification required
- Proficiency in care and management of ports, central/implanted lines, IV starts, and wound care
- Experience with acute tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation injury, hemorrhage, sepsis, spinal cord compression, neutropenic precautions, tracheostomy care, external radiation therapy, and radiation safety
- Strong assessment, patient education, and care coordination skills
- Flu vaccine required (no exemptions)
Oncology Nurse Responsibilities
- Serve as Nurse Navigator for adult oncology patients undergoing radiation therapy
- Deliver patient education, clinical support, and guidance throughout the cancer treatment journey
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and monitor for radiation toxicity and related symptoms (altered mental status, GI disturbances, dysphagia, edema, nausea/vomiting, neuropathy)
- Provide wound care and skin management for radiation therapy patients
- Coordinate patient appointments, prepare charts, complete disability forms, and manage pharmacy communications
- Conduct telephone triage, address patient concerns, and escalate to physicians or emergency services as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure holistic, patient-centered care
- Document all care and communications accurately in Cerner EMR
