Med/Surg RN Job Details

Location: Akron, Ohio 44304 (Ohio nursing jobs)
Unit: 36-bed Medical/Surgical (H5)
Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg
Start Date: February 15, 2026
End Date: May 9, 2026
Contract Duration: 12-week travel nursing contract
Shift: 12 Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36
Patient Ratio: 1:5/6

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg RN experience in a hospital setting
Active Registered Nurse license (Ohio or compact state)
Graduate of an accredited professional nursing program
BLS certification (American Heart Association)
Epic EMR experience within the last year (must be listed on resume)
Ability to float to other clinical units as needed
Maximum 7 days of requested time off (RTO) at submission
Flexible scheduling required (no block scheduling)

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to adolescent (17+) through geriatric patients with medical and surgical needs
Manage a variety of cases: general surgery, colorectal, abdominal surgeries, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, urology, women’s health, gynecology, uro-gynecology, gyn oncology, plastics, ENT, trauma, cardiothoracic, orthopedic, spinal/neuro overflow, and select obstetrical cases
Deliver specialized care for obstetrical issues: intra-uterine fetal demise, preeclampsia, hyperemesis, substance abuse withdrawal, and diabetic pregnancies
Excel in a fast-paced hospital environment and adapt to changing patient assignments
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
Accurately document patient care using Epic EMR
Float to other clinical units as required to support hospital operations
