PACU RN Job Details
- Job Title: PACU Registered Nurse (RN)
- Location: Washington, DC 20010
- Assignment Type: Travel Nursing Contract
- Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 1/20/2026 – End: 4/21/2026)
- Shift: Day shifts, 4x10-hour (06:30–17:00 or 09:00–19:30)
- Hours per Week: 40
- No on-call or weekend shifts
- Unit: Third Floor PACU (11 rooms, daily census ~40)
- Patient Population: Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics
- Floating: May float to main Operating Room (OR) as needed
PACU Nurse Qualifications
- Active DC Registered Nurse license (pending accepted, must be obtained before start date)
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent PACU nursing experience, including blood product administration, infection control, specimen handling, and PACU procedures
- Must pass Relias EKG Rhythm Interpretation Exam (minimum 80% overall, 100% on lethal rhythms)
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions)
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting system preferred
- Preferred: Trauma Level I nursing experience
- Two supervisor references required
PACU RN Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality post-anesthesia nursing care to diverse patient populations
- Monitor and manage patients recovering from surgical procedures including vascular access, robotics, urology, oral maxillofacial, breast oncology/plastics, gynecology (GYN), uroGYN, podiatry, burn, ophthalmology, and general surgeries
- Administer blood products and medications as needed
- Ensure accurate specimen handling and labeling
- Implement infection control protocols and isolation precautions
- Perform pain assessment and management
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including radiology, pharmacy, social services, and rapid response teams
- Float to main OR as required by patient census
