Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Position: Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Akron, Ohio 44308 (Ohio nursing jobs)

• Start Date: January 5, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night Shift, 3x12 hour shifts per week
• Hours per Week: 36

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Ohio RN license preferred)
• BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• Minimum of 1 year recent Med/Surg clinical experience (2 years highly desired)
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work night shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and create individualized care plans for Med/Surg patients
• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and new staff
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record
• Promote patient and staff safety by following hospital safety protocols
• Participate in interdisciplinary healthcare team meetings and contribute to patient rehabilitation programs
• Initiate discharge planning and patient education upon admission
• Communicate changes in patient status to the clinical care team to ensure continuity of care
• Foster a positive work environment through teamwork and effective communication
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education for nursing professionals
