ICU RN Job Details

• Location: San Antonio, TX 78229 (South Texas Medical Center)
• Unit: Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU)
• Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Shift: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), rotating weekends
• Hours per Week: 36
• Employment Type: Travel Nurse, On-Site
• Start Date: December 19, 2025

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Texas RN license (no temporary licenses)
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke certifications required
• Strong critical thinking and clinical skills in acute care settings
• Ability to float to other hospital units as needed
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• MICU/MSICU background, IABP and CRRT exposure preferred
• Compliance with hospital dress code: Navy scrubs, neat appearance, tattoos covered, only ear piercings visible

ICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit
• Monitor, assess, and treat critically ill patients in a fast-paced healthcare environment
• Perform and assist with ICU procedures: chest tubes, GI scopes, intubations, central and arterial lines, NG tubes, Foley catheters, and dressing changes
• Accurately document patient care using Meditech EMR
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes
• Adhere to hospital policies, including punctuality, attendance, and floating guidelines
• Participate in ongoing nursing education and maintain required certifications
