Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Shift: 12-hour day shifts (3 shifts/week)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Ohio or compact state)
• BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience in a Med/Surg hospital setting (2 years preferred)
• Strong patient assessment, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments for all patients within 8 hours of admission
• Develop and implement individualized patient care plans with families and the healthcare team
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in electronic medical records
• Participate in patient rehabilitation and deliver direct clinical care using the nursing process
• Initiate discharge planning and patient education from admission
• Communicate changes in patient status to the care team to ensure safety and continuity of care
• Supervise Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and new staff
• Promote a safe environment for patients and staff, following hospital safety policies
• Contribute to team building and a positive work environment
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities as needed after orientation
• Engage in ongoing professional development and continuing education
