• Duration: 13-week contract
• Shift: Day shifts, 12 hours (06:30 - 19:00); options for 3x12 or 4x12 per week
• Hours per Week: 36
• Self-Scheduling: Available
• Rotating Weekends & Holidays: Required (every other weekend)
• No On-Call Required
• Orientation: 16 hours (non-billable)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Tennessee or compact state)
• Minimum 1 year of recent PCU or stepdown nursing experience
• Certifications: AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, NIHSS
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Experience in community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II settings preferred
• Must reside at least 100 miles from Johnson City, TN
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Ability to complete compliance and drug testing prior to start
• BSN required for international travel nurses

PCU Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a 38-bed Progressive Care Unit
• Manage patient ratio of 1:5
• Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage dysrhythmias, and respond to rapid response/code situations
• Administer blood products and manage central and peripheral IV lines
• Deliver non-invasive airway management and oxygen therapy
• Operate specialized equipment including bladder scanners, EKG machines, and vein finders
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and more)
• Support clinical education for nursing students while providing patient care
• Float to other units as needed within RN scope of practice
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and fit testing requirements
