Med/Surg RN Job Details – Falls Church, VA

• Location: Falls Church, VA 22042 (Northern Virginia, near Washington, D.C.)
• Healthcare Setting: Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) Unit
• Contract Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Start Date: January 12, 2026
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (3 shifts/week, 36 hours/week)
• Employment Type: Travel RN, On-Site

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license (Virginia or compact state)
• BLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• ACLS Certification (required prior to first shift)
• Minimum 2 years of recent clinical experience in a Med/Surg unit
• Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare team

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive nursing assessments for all patients within 8 hours of admission
• Develop and implement individualized care plans with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
• Deliver direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Accurately document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record
• Participate in patient rehabilitation and discharge planning from admission
• Communicate patient status changes to the healthcare team to ensure safety and continuity of care
• Supervise and mentor Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and new staff
• Maintain a safe environment for patients and staff, following all hospital safety protocols
• Engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment
