Washington, DC Nursing Job Details
- Location: Washington, DC 20007
- Healthcare Setting: Outpatient Oncology Clinic
- Job Type: Travel RN Contract (13 weeks)
- Start Date: January 26, 2026
- End Date: April 27, 2026
- Shift: 5x8-Hour Days (Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Hours per Week: 40
- Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
- Unit: Lombardi CNC Oncology Clinic
- Flu Vaccine: Required (no exemptions)
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active DC Registered Nurse (RN) license required at time of application
- Minimum 2 years of recent oncology nursing experience (inpatient and outpatient preferred)
- At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment
- BLS certification required
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) and ONS/ONCC certifications preferred
- Experience with Cerner electronic charting system preferred
- Strong clinical skills in care coordination, abnormal lab value recognition, isolation and neutropenic precautions, telephone triage, psychosocial care, and symptom management
- Experience caring for patients with various cancer types: bladder, kidney, brain, breast, colorectal, ENT, leukemia, lymphoma, hematology, GYN, and more
- Two supervisor references required
Outpatient RN Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver comprehensive nursing care to oncology and hematology patients in an outpatient clinic
- Perform telephone triage, patient and family education, and support
- Recognize and communicate abnormal lab values promptly
- Implement isolation and neutropenic precautions
- Manage symptom control and provide psychosocial care
- Assist with GYN examinations, bone marrow biopsies, and aspirations
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including social services, pharmacy, radiology, and rapid response
- Document patient care using Cerner (preferred)
