Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Start Date: January 19, 2026
• Healthcare Setting: Labor & Delivery Unit (Level 1 nursery, 5 birthing rooms, 12 postpartum rooms)
• Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM), 36 hours per week
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
• Patient Ratios: 1:3-4 couplets
• Weekend Shifts: Required
• Floating: May be required between similar nursing units
• Travel Nursing Experience: Required

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Maryland or compact state
• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience (2 years preferred)
• Current certifications: ACLS, NRP, STABLE
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
• COVID-19 vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Ability to work weekends and float as needed
• Previous travel nursing experience required

Labor & Delivery Nurse Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns in a Level 1 nursery
• Monitor and assess mothers and infants, including high-risk and NAS (Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome) cases
• Assist with labor, delivery, postpartum care, and newborn stabilization
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
• Adhere to Baby Friendly guidelines and maintain high standards of patient safety and clinical care
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently using electronic health records
• Complete orientation and required facility modules prior to assignment start
