Job Details
- Position: PCU RN (Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse) / Telemetry RN / Med-Surg RN
- Location: Asheville, North Carolina 28801 (Asheville travel nursing jobs)
- Assignment Type: Travel Contract – Travel Nursing Job
- Start Date: February 23, 2026
- End Date: May 25, 2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 – $1,890
- Hours per Week: 36
- Shift: 12-hour nights (6:45pm – 7:15am) – Night Shift RN opportunity
- Unit: 5 West Medicine (36 beds)
- Dress Code: Navy blue top and bottom, white top and navy blue bottom, or all white
- Weekend Requirement: Must sign up for 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday count as weekend shift on nights)
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in North Carolina or compact state (required) – North Carolina travel nurse applicants encouraged
- BLS certification (required)
- Minimum 1 year recent PCU, Telemetry, or Medical-Surgical RN experience
- Strong skills in medical telemetry, remote patient monitoring, and clinical assessment
- Excellent teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and adaptability in fast-paced acute care settings
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree preferred
- Leadership or charge nurse experience (preferred)
- CMSRN certification preferred
- Experience with Cerner EMR or similar electronic medical record systems
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to PCU/med-tele patients including assessment, monitoring, and timely interventions
- Operate and interpret medical remote telemetry monitoring to detect changes in cardiac or respiratory status
- Document clinical care accurately using Cerner EMR and follow unit documentation standards
- Prepare and transfer patients for procedures such as Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology (IR), and OR transfers
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, and support staff to ensure safe handoffs and transitions of care
- Float to sister Med-Surg units (3W, 5W, K8) as needed and support staffing flexibility
- Uphold unit and hospital policies, supporting a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement
