Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the U.S.
- Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU / cardiac ICU experience (critical care RN)
- Proven experience with ECMO (veno-arterial and/or veno-venous)
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Required certifications: ACLS and BLS
- Experience with Epic electronic charting system
- Ability to float to cardiac stepdown and units of equal or lesser acuity
- Preferred: previous charge experience, community hospital, LTAC, and trauma level I/II exposure
- Applicants must not reside in the following Texas counties: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate care to adult and geriatric patients in the CVICU
- Manage patients requiring advanced cardiovascular support, including ECMO, intra-aortic balloon pumps, and post-cardiac surgery care
- Assess and manage dysrhythmias, multisystem organ failure, and hemodynamic instability
- Insert, monitor, and manage arterial, central, and PICC lines per unit policy
- Administer and titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and ventilator management for intubated patients
- Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and respond rapidly to changes in patient condition
- Document patient care thoroughly using Epic; maintain accurate charting and handoffs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, and IV therapy
- Float to cardiac stepdown and other units as needed to support patient care and unit staffing
