- Employment Type: Travel Contract / Travel Nurse opportunity
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (April 6, 2026 – July 6, 2026)
- Shift: 12-hour days, Friday–Sunday (0700–1930) — weekend travel nursing shift
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2020-$2130
- Patient Ratio: 1:4–1:5 (days)
- Bed Size: 46
- Scrubs: Black or Blue
- Electronic Medical Record: EPIC EMR (required)
Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of recent Medical-Surgical (Med/Surg) RN experience (required)
- Active Iowa RN license or compact/multi-state RN license (required)
- BLS certification from AHA or ARC (required)
- Proficient in drip management and IV infusion therapies (amiodarone, diltiazem, heparin, dobutamine, milrinone) — critical for surgical nursing
- Experience with surgical/post-op equipment: chest tubes, JP drains, 3-way Foley, NG tubes (required)
- EPIC EMR experience (required) — documentation and charting for travel nursing roles
- Stepdown/PCU or progressive care experience (highly preferred) — strong plus for Surgical Specialty Unit
- Professional reference from a charge/supervisor/nurse manager/director within the last 24 months (preferred)
- Valid Driver’s License (required)
- Completed skills checklist specific to the Medical-Surgical discipline (required)
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care for adult patients undergoing a variety of surgical procedures (excluding ortho and spine)
- Deliver post-operative care, pain management, and patient education to optimize recovery and outcomes
- Monitor and manage patients on drips and specialized equipment; perform infusion and titration per protocol
- Manage drains, chest tubes, NG tubes, and advanced wound care as needed
- Float across Med/Surg units and support other teams within the facility as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — surgeons, anesthesiologists, case management, and rehab services — to ensure coordinated patient care
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation using EPIC EMR and adhere to facility protocols and safety standards
- Work scheduled weekend shifts (Friday–Sunday) and participate in unit-based quality initiatives
